SF3D AI Lab is a one-person research lab run from Tampere, Finland. This is the short version; the longer story is in From Liquid Nitrogen to Tokens.

  • Same maker, new arena. SF3D was a competitive overclocking team (2006–2016) — liquid nitrogen, world records in SuperPi and 3DMark. The lab reopened in 2026 to chase a different number: tokens per second, not leaderboard points.
  • What’s being built. Two projects and one machine — Quaesitor, a multi-agent research platform; Somnus, a self-correcting local AI bench that runs around the clock; and an RDNA4-based AI server assembled from scratch. Each gets its own article.
  • The hardware. AMD Radeon AI PRO R9700 (RDNA4, 32 GB) — sponsored, as in the old days. The goal is two cards: two models, two roles, one continuous loop.

How this site works

There’s no CMS and no database behind these pages. Posts are Markdown files in a git repository, built to static HTML on every push — git is the CMS. Only two parts are meant to change often:

  • Lab Notes — build logs and research notes (you’re reading one).
  • Signal Feed — a curated stream of AI news, assembled by an autonomous agent, every item linking back to its source.

No accounts, no newsletter, no tracking. Just the work, posted as it happens.
